Our investment philosophy

Origo Capital's investment model is basically about commitment and curiosity. We want to invest in interesting companies and to create long-term value. We are value investors and prioritize companies with stable business models and a strong position within their niche. As a value-focused investor, we often deviate from the market's flock behavior. We are patient and focus more on the company's fundamental development than on the short-term fluctuations of the stock. We believe that specialization helps us achieve our goals and - equally important - to avoid bad investments. Our investment philosophy can be summarized as follows:

  • Long-term investments
  • Engaged ownership
  • Specialization

LONG-TERM INVESTMENTS

We are looking for companies that have the propects to make a journey of change. But, we know it takes time to build successful companies. With a long-term investment focus, we focus on the factors that actually mean something to the company's fundamental success. The pursuit of short-term returns usually leads to focus on wrong factors and excessive risk-taking, and thus weak returns.

ENGAGED OWNERSHIP

Our basic view is that we own a part of the company, not just securities. We value the proximity of the companies we invest in and often have a dialogue about strategies, opportunities and challenges. We are proactive and have our own ideas and cooperate with other owners regarding specific ownership issues.

specialization

In most industries, specialization is required to reach the top. This applies to sports, culture or business. We believe that it also applies to asset management and has therefore chosen to focus entirely on investments in Nordic small companies. We can put all the resources in this area while our competitors usually have it as a side track. We will also avoid wrestling with all the difficult conflicts of interest that otherwise easily arise.
